GSP@International Fruit Expo: A New Path for Fruit Brand Growth

From August 26 to 28, the world's finest fruits gathered in Shanghai, with nearly 300 exhibitors from over 60 countries and regions. Bananas, durians, grapes, cherries, pineapples, avocados, along with specialty fresh fruits from various regions and new varieties, turned the exhibition hall into a global fruit map.

What was most impressive on site was the professionalism behind the bustle. Buyers discussed production areas, variety licensing, sugar content, maturity, and optimal sales windows next to a single fruit, as well as cold chain logistics, sorting, packaging, urban distribution, channel rhythm, and in-store display. Health and nutrition, consumption scenarios, and brand experiences appeared at more and more booths. As the world's finest fruits continue to enter China, the productization capabilities of domestic specialty fruits are also rapidly improving. A fruit expo can now simultaneously showcase progress in agriculture, trade, supply chain, retail, and branding.

01 Before the expo, more and more questions are already being handed to AI

Fruit is a category that relies heavily on experience. Taste is ultimately judged by the tongue, but the first screening increasingly happens on screens earlier. Procurement managers check suppliers, categories, and production area information before entering the venue; consumers search for nutrition, taste, pairings, and gifting suggestions before entering a store. Now, these actions are increasingly converging into a single entry point: asking AI directly.

"How do I choose imported bananas?" "What fruits are more suitable for children?" "How do I choose fruits for clients?" "Which fruit suppliers offer stable nationwide supply?" These questions cover both the consumer side and the procurement side. NIQ's consumer research in 2026 found that 42% of consumers had used at least one AI tool to assist shopping in the past month. People are getting used to letting AI first gather information, explain differences, and narrow down choices.

AI compresses official websites, media reports, product materials, user reviews, and third-party information into a few paragraphs of answers. Who the brand is, what its advantages are, what scenarios it suits, and why it is trustworthy may all form an initial impression before the first meeting. The fruit expo continues to provide real products, professional teams, and face-to-face trust, while AI pushes the moment a brand is recognized one step earlier.

02 Corporate clients look for certainty, consumers look for reasons to choose

For business procurement (ToB) | Certainty in delivery

Large supermarkets, fresh food e-commerce platforms, restaurants, and fruit chains simultaneously focus on price, maturity, loss, turnover, replenishment, out-of-stock response, and after-sales service. Stable delivery directly affects business results.

For consumers (ToC) | Clear reasons to choose

Consumers face more production areas, varieties, and brands. Origin, taste, maturity, nutrition, applicable scenarios, certifications, and purchase convenience together shape their choices.

For business procurement, supplier value is composed of pricing, turnover, loss, replenishment, maturity control, and after-sales service. Whether a batch of fruit can reach the shelves at the right time and in the right condition directly affects business results. For consumers, "fresh, healthy, and high-quality" has become a common expectation, and origin, variety, taste, consumption methods, applicable groups, and credible endorsements further influence choices. The same industrial capabilities need to be clearly expressed in both procurement language and consumer language.

03 Taking Goodfarmer as an example: Letting industrial strength reach customers in new ways

Goodfarmer is a "full attendee" at the China International Fruit Expo: professional buyers crowded around the Goodfarmer booth, where star products such as organic bananas, black diamond pineapples, organic blueberries, and high-altitude super-sweet apples were showcased together, and the "CIIE same style" frozen durian meat also attracted many buyers to stop and taste. This scene fits Goodfarmer's consistent corporate temperament—products and business lead the way, with long-term accumulation embedded in the supply chain, categories, and channels.

Goodfarmer's related business began in 2002. According to the company's official website, its global sales network has established long-term cooperation with customers in nearly 70 countries and regions, and domestic customers cover large supermarkets, e-commerce platforms, fruit chains, new retail stores, and large wholesalers. Data from Phoenix News and other sources in 2026 show that Goodfarmer has laid out 270+ high-quality fresh fruit production areas globally and 32+ professional distribution centers, serving 55,000+ offline stores; the official website also shows approximately 32,000 square meters of cold storage and a banana ripening capacity of 290 containers per week.

In the past year, Goodfarmer has been proactively expanding brand content that consumers can understand. The 717 Fruit Festival in 2026, themed "Rainbow Fresh Fruits" and healthy consumption, connected multi-category fruits, nutritional knowledge, nationwide in-store displays, themed roadshows, live streaming, and influencer content. Supply chain advantages thus entered more vivid life scenarios: consumers see not just bananas, pineapples, or blueberries, but a fresh fruit brand experience built around health, quality, and daily consumption.

For business procurement, professional content has also begun to carry this strength. The publicly released "Imported Fruit Procurement Guide (2026 Edition)" by GSP Innovation Consulting uses Goodfarmer as a research model, and brand strength is also forming richer public expressions. Goodfarmer has obtained the "Shanghai Brand" certification, six star products have won 2026 ITI International Taste Awards, and Goodfarmer black diamond pineapple has received honors related to the 2025 annual industry leading brand; combined with market position statements and long-term public data on production areas, warehousing, ripening, and distribution, Goodfarmer's brand recognition now has multiple pillars including products, supply chain, market performance, and third-party endorsements. This allows the capabilities built over more than twenty years to be more fully understood in new information entry points, forming an O2O online-offline integrated market channel capability portfolio.

04 International Fruit Expo: Online answers and offline experiences are taking over from each other

Back at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, buyers still smell, taste, ask, and compare, and sit down with suppliers to discuss products, prices, supply, and cooperation. Companies from around the world concentrate a year's new products, production areas, and cooperation opportunities into three days. This high-density face-to-face exchange remains the most vibrant part of the fruit industry.

At the same time, the first round of information judgment outside the exhibition hall is moving earlier. Users first ask AI, then go to expos, stores, e-commerce platforms, and sales channels to complete experience and verification. Online answers and offline contact are beginning to form a relay. For companies with deep industrial accumulation, this change amplifies real capabilities: how stable the supply chain is, how rich the products are, how wide the channels are, and how solid the market reputation is can all enter customers' vision earlier.

Goodfarmer provides a very representative sample. Over more than twenty years, it has built global procurement, quality management, professional ripening, nationwide distribution, terminal services, and consumer branding into a complete system; today, this system is beginning to enter AI and digital marketing systems with clearer brand facts.

05 The new path for next-generation agricultural brand growth comes from AI

At the expo, we had the honor of communicating with dozens of agricultural brand owners, and we noted the following pain points:

Brand awareness: The branding of fruits and agricultural products, including new product education, nutritional value communication, and even awareness and consumer education for specific scenarios such as gifting.

Differentiated product definition: For example, consumers are increasingly concerned about the origin of fruits, and consumption is extending to scenarios such as fresh-cut, tea drinks, baking, breakfast, gifting, and sports; demand for small packaging and ready-to-eat products is evident.

High quality and brand premium: Consistency of quality, premium pricing for quality, and consumer-perceived premium.

Brand carrying capacity is further changed by AI as a core variable in market channels.

Open Doubao, DeepSeek, Yuanbao, or other AI tools, and people's questions about fruit are already very specific: How to choose imported bananas? What fruits are suitable for children to eat every day? Which fruits are more suitable during fat loss? What should the elderly pay attention to when eating fruit? How to judge the maturity of pineapples? What are the main production areas of blueberries? How to choose fruits for clients? How to mix fruits for a family for a week? Which fruit suppliers offer stable nationwide supply? What indicators should be considered when evaluating fruit suppliers?

These questions existed before. AI has significantly reduced the cost of getting answers. Consumers previously had to open multiple web pages, read reviews, compare products, check comments, and piece together conclusions themselves. Procurement staff needed to look up information, ask peers, flip through company introductions, and compare multiple suppliers. Now, AI can first complete a round of information gathering, compress complex materials into several judgment dimensions, and then help users continue to ask follow-up questions.

GSP Innovation Consulting has long focused on innovative trends of agricultural brands in AI, and has formed a series of systematic toolkits and solutions for brand awareness strategies in the AI era. As the variety of world fruits enriches, we hope to walk with Chinese fruit brands to find their unique advantages in the AI era.
